Tree Guard has change to Deer Guard


Tree Guard has changed it's name to Deer Guard. Same product, different name. TREE GUARD/Deer Guard is a pre-mixed, latex-based deer repellent that sprays on milky and dries clear. The active ingredient, Bitrex, makes the coated plant taste bad, but is very safe. A detection agent lets deer know the plant is treated.

Deer Guard protects your growing plants from foraging deer with the bitterest tasting substance known to man and a detection agent that trains deer to avoid Deer Guard protected plants. Deer Guard may be applied to non-bearing plants such as flowers, ornamental plantings, trees and shrubs during the growing season when temperatures range from 40o to 90o Fahrenheit. Do not apply Deer Guard to vegetables, fruits, or any plant that may be eaten… the bitter taste will make them inedible.

Helpful Tips: When possible, apply before deer damage occurs. Don't skimp. Two lite coats are better than one thick coat. Touch-up new growth. Re-apply if deer need more "training". Thoroughly clean spray nozzle by flushing with water after use. Wear gloves and wash hands after use.

This product is ready-to-use and should not be diluted. Shake bottle gently before using product. Apply Deer Guard directly to the plant using the squeeze trigger of the spray bottle or after transfer to any pump-type sprayer equipped with a cone or flat fan nozzle. Adjust nozzle to obtain even coverage. Apply only to dry plants. For best results, apply to unprotected foliage in the Spring. Reapply to new growth as it is unprotected. Follow all instructions on the product container label.

Commercial & Power Spray Equipment
Repel Products highly recommends the use of a cone paint strainer for filling commercial/power sprayer holding tanks with DEER GUARD. These type units are particularly sensitive to foreign or particle matter. Filling sprayer tanks in the field presents the opportunity for particulate to be introduced into the liquid which may clog and/or damage the spray system. Additionally, Repel Products uses filter systems in the manufacturing process of DEER GUARD to screen out clumps and dried material inherent to the industrial manufacturing environment. However, even with our best efforts, exposure of the formula to air may produce dried material or clumps which can clog the filters in the sprayer system. Cone paint strainers, which are quite inexpensive, are a good insurance policy for excellent performance.

SPRAY EQUIPMENT MUST BE THOROUGHLY CLEANED IMMEDIATELY AFTER USE AND BEFORE PRODUCT DRIES! FLUSH THE SPRAYER SYSTEM (HOLDING TANK TO SPRAY TIP) COMPLETELY WITH WARM SOAPY WATER UNTIL ALL PRODUCT IS FLUSHED OUT.
